New Battery Wrapped: your battery's month, made to share

Keep your MacBook's battery fresh.

Chargeberry is a battery charge limiter for macOS. It stops charging at the limit you choose, 80% by default, and your Mac keeps running on the charger. Batteries wear fastest when they sit full and hot, so a limit keeps yours healthier for years. Need a full battery? It's one click away.

A working model of Chargeberry, not a video, running the same charging rules as the app. Plug the charger in and out, change the limit, turn up the heat, try Charge to 100% and Full by. Time runs fast here: two minutes every second, and faster with S.

Why stop at 80%? Batteries age fastest full and hot.

A lithium-ion battery wears out quickest when it sits at a high charge, and faster still when it's warm. A MacBook that lives on its charger spends most of its life at 100%. Chargeberry stops charging at your limit and lets the charger power the Mac directly, so the battery rests at a gentler level instead of being held full all day.

Without a limit

macOS charges to 100% and keeps it there.

Time at 100%–60%

With Chargeberry

Charging stops at 80%. The charger runs the Mac.

Time at 100%–60%
9:00 AM

Plugged in at your desk from 9 to 6, starting at 60%, at this MacBook Air's measured charging speed.

Everything a battery limit should do. Nothing it shouldn't.

Chargeberry sits in your menu bar. A small helper does the charging control, so your limit holds with the app closed, after a restart, and for every user of the Mac. Every picture below is live.

Charge limit

Pick a limit, or switch between three.

Desk 60% for a Mac that's always plugged in, Daily 80% for everyday use, Travel 100% before a trip. Or set your own anywhere from 50 to 100%.

Charging stops at the limit and starts again 3% lower, so it isn't flicking on and off all day. You can change that gap in Settings.

Stops at 80% and charges again at 77%.
Heat protection

Pauses charging when the battery is hot.

Charging warms a battery, and heat is what wears it fastest. When the battery reaches 40 °C, Chargeberry pauses charging and the Mac keeps running on the charger. It picks up again once the battery cools 2 °C, so it never flickers at the line.

The temperature is yours to set, from 35 to 45 °C.

34.0 °C
Charging
Drag the temperature. Pauses at 40 °C, resumes below 38 °C.
Full when you need it

Charge to 100% now, or be full by a time.

Leaving early tomorrow? Set Full by 8:00 and Chargeberry holds your limit overnight, then starts charging just in time to be full as you leave, so the battery spends minutes at 100%, not hours. It learns how fast your Mac charges and adds a safety margin.

Charge to 100% Now is one click, and the limit comes back by itself when you unplug.

Drain down automatically

Back down to your limit, by itself.

After a trip at 100%, a battery on the charger would sit full for days. Turn on Drain down automatically and the Mac runs on its battery, with the charger plugged in, down to your limit, then switches back to the charger.

It only runs while you're using the Mac, never during sleep, and stopping it means it waits until you plug in again.

Live power flow

See where every watt goes.

Battery Details shows the charger, the Mac and the battery with an arrow for each flow and its watts, live: when the charger runs the Mac and charges the battery, when the battery rests at the limit, and when a weak charger can't keep up.

The numbers come straight from the battery controller, averaged over a few seconds so they add up.

Sleep

Never charges past your limit in its sleep.

A Mac can't watch its battery while it sleeps, so Chargeberry plans ahead. Lid closed, it keeps charging toward your limit and wakes the Mac quietly to check. Lid open, where a wake would light the screen, it stops charging for the night instead.

Charging to the limit while you're away, it keeps the Mac from dozing off until it gets there.

Battery health

Watch your battery's health over months.

Chargeberry records the battery's capacity once a day and draws the trend: how much it's wearing a year, how many cycles a month, and roughly how long until it reaches 80%, when Apple suggests service.

Down 2.3% in 7 months · about 1.0 years until 80% (sample data)
Conflicts

Spots what gets in the way.

macOS's Optimized Battery Charging, the charge limit in macOS 26.4 and later, or another battery app can all work against your limit. Chargeberry notices and tells you, with a button straight to the right setting. If something keeps changing charging behind its back, it puts your limit back and says so.

Optimized Battery Charging is onIt can hold the charge at 80% by itself, which works against Chargeberry's limit. Turn it off in System Settings › Battery.

Battery Wrapped. Your battery's month, made to share.

Once a month, Chargeberry makes a card about your battery: its health, the hours it was kept off 100%, its hottest moment and the cycles it used, plus the mood it earned. Everything on it is measured on your Mac. Share it on X in one click, then ask your friends for theirs.

And everything else.

A menu bar icon that tells you

The charge, a tick where your limit is, and a badge for charging, held on the charger, or paused for heat.

Notifications that matter

Held at your limit, fully charged, paused for heat, drained, ready for Full by, and conflicts. Once each, never nagging.

Set up in a minute

A short welcome installs the helper, picks your limit and checks for conflicts, with exact steps for macOS's approval.

Safe by design

If anything holding the battery quits or crashes, normal charging comes back within a second. Low battery with the charger paused? It's restored.

Learns your charger

Measures how fast your Mac really charges, band by band, so Full by starts on time with your charger.

Uninstalls cleanly

One button puts charging back to normal and removes the helper. Delete the app and the helper restores charging and leaves.

Settings that apply instantly

The limit, where charging starts again, heat protection and its temperature, drain down, open at login. No Save button.

A command line too

chargeberryctl shows the battery, the helper, the health record and the usage record, for the curious.

Private

No account, no analytics, no tracking. Your battery's data stays on your Mac unless you share a card yourself.

A real Mac app, written in Swift.

The app is native SwiftUI: a menu bar item, a settings window and a welcome. Charging control lives in a small helper that macOS asks you to approve once. It talks to the battery controller directly, only ever changes charging, and checks the app's signature on every connection.

No Electron, no web view, nothing running in a browser. It reads the battery's sensors every few seconds and sleeps the rest of the time.

Questions, answered.

Does limiting the charge really help the battery?

Yes. Lithium-ion batteries age fastest when they're held at a high charge and when they're warm, which is exactly what happens to a MacBook that lives on its charger. Keeping the charge around 80% and pausing charging when it's hot slows that wear down. Your battery will still age, just more slowly.

Will my Mac still run on the charger?

Yes. At the limit, the battery stops taking charge and the charger powers the Mac directly. Nothing about how your Mac performs changes.

Why does it need a helper and my approval?

Changing how a Mac charges needs system privileges, so a small helper does it, and macOS asks you to allow it once in System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions. The helper only changes charging, only accepts requests from Chargeberry itself, and puts charging back to normal if anything goes wrong.

What happens if I quit or uninstall Chargeberry?

Quitting the app leaves your limit in place: the helper keeps it. Uninstall Helper in Settings puts charging back to normal and removes the helper. If you just drag the app to the Trash, the helper notices, restores normal charging and leaves on its own.

What about Optimized Battery Charging and macOS's own limit?

Optimized Battery Charging only holds at 80% some of the time, guessed from your routine, and the charge limit in macOS 26.4 and later offers a few fixed steps. Chargeberry gives you any limit from 50 to 100%, heat protection, Full by and more. Running two at once makes them fight, so Chargeberry tells you if one is on and takes you to the setting.

Does it work while my Mac sleeps?

Yes. With the lid closed it keeps charging toward your limit and wakes the Mac briefly to check. With the lid open it stops charging for the sleep instead, so your screen never lights up at night.

Which Macs are supported?

MacBooks with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Chargeberry checks what your Mac's firmware supports and only uses what works there. Intel Macs aren't supported.

Will it slow down my Mac or drain the battery?

No. The helper reads the battery's sensors every few seconds and sleeps in between. It's built for the menu bar, not a dashboard that runs all day.

What is Battery Wrapped?

A monthly card about your battery: health, hours kept off 100%, the hottest moment and the cycles it used, with a berry mood. It's made from what Chargeberry measured on your Mac, and nothing leaves your Mac unless you share it.

Can I use it on more than one Mac?

Yes. One license works on up to 3 of your Macs. To move it to a new one, open Settings › General › License on the old Mac and click Deactivate This Mac, then activate the same key on the new one.

Is there a free trial?

No. Instead, the demo at the top of this page is a working Chargeberry: it runs the same charging rules as the app, so you can see exactly what it does before you buy.

Can I get a refund?

No refunds allowed: all sales are final (see our refund policy). Chargeberry is a digital download and your license key works the moment you pay. Please try the demo at the top before you buy, and check the requirements: an Apple silicon MacBook on macOS 14 or later.
